Caring for a Puppy with Parvo?

Caring for a Puppy with Parvo - puppy lying downI took my 3 month old puppy to a vet and they sent me home with IV fluids and medicine to treat parvo, but it is like he is getting worse each day not better. This started Wednesday evening with vomiting and I took him to the vet. Thankfully the Humane Society helped with bill or I wouldn't have been able to do that. But anyway that was Thursday. We came home and he was eating, but then by Friday no eating or drinking. Now it's Saturday and he is not doing anything, but just laying around. He has not had any diarrhea at all just vomiting. I've been giving IV fluids, but they are just bubbling up under the skin and it doesn't seem like it's helping.

The first picture is today and the one where he is eating is Thursday after vet appointment. Please help me.

If he is not drinking it is an issue. Please call the vet again.

Prayers and healing wishes for your pup. I know parvo survivors and learned that one of the best ways to beat this illness is to have good and consistent vet care and follow vet instructions to the letter. Some vets do IV in their offices to keep the pup hydrated others send the pup home with explicit instructions for care. Since you have already established vet care, best to confirm with the vet the best next steps.

That is wonderful that the Humane Society helped with the bill. Hopefully you can take care of this next step via a phone call, get clear directions and take care of things at home, although since there are changes, they may want to do the care in the office/vet hospital.

Post back with an update. Prayers will continue.

Here is a link about using colloidal silver, pedialyte, and charcoal powder. There are other natural remedies also. I wish you the best! Prayers!

Puppies dont get over parvo overnight. It takes a week to a month for them to be getting back to normal. You are lucky he has not started with the diarrhea. But it sounds to me like the disease is running its course. Dont hesitate to call your Vet back if there are any changes. It is expected and necessary with parvo. There should not be any charge for phone calls with questions. The IV fluids under the skin are important. They do bubble up under the skin and are released very slowly into his system.

They are important because he does not vomit that fluid up. Parvo can dehydrate your puppy and that makes him much sicker. So keep doing that. With parvo keeping their fluid levels up is half the battle. So keep in touch with your Vet when you feel you need to. Let us know how things are going. With good Vet advice and good nursing at home your puppy has a good chance.

Vaccination as a pup......high likely he won't survive, you will be lucky if he does and in most cases they get brain damage.......won't help if the mother was not vaccinated....PARVO IS MOST COMMON IN PUPS,WHY ,DONT KNOW
