My rabbit recently got a really bad infection from a cat bite. I went to the vet and they prescribed a strong antibiotic and said some of the skin was going to slough off. He has lots of scabbing and I'm wondering, is this normal? It was a very bad infection. Should we peel it off little by little or let it fall normally? I am taking him back to the vet, but I am still worried. I don't care if he stays bald, I just want to make sure it's healing as it should.

Yes, that happened to my bunny as well. The skin will come off by itself. If you peel it, you may be pulling off more than you should. Show the vet when you go in.
This is helpful. A large chunk has began falling off so I am sure hes almost ready! I thank god I am not the only one this has happened to. What makes it worse is it happened on his ear!
Do not pull off any skin. It will come off when the new skin comes in.
A piece fell of today actually! The skin underneath looks very nice and pink!
Just let it continue to heal. Make sure it stays dry and the old skin should shed all by its self. Any signs of moisture, swelling or pus should go back to the Vet.
