My shampooer is not spraying shampoo on to the carpet. I pull the trigger on the handle and nothing happens. How would you fix a problem like this?

I don't know can someone please help, that is my issue too. It just stopped working one day while I was cleaning my carpet very frustrating having to pour water on the floor to clean my carpet.
My machine is 2 years old and worked fine, then one day it would not turn on. When I press the start thing it doesn't even make a noise or anything.
I would appreciate as to what I should do.. I talked to an person at Hoover on the phine and he was very rude! I am 82 and cannot afford a new machine.
