I received a Smith-Corona Enterprise 2 typewriter from my grandparents that has barely been used. Everything works fine on the typewriter when I plug it in except the carriage. I have absolutely no knowledge on typewriters, but I did some research and tried every solution that I've found, but I still cannot get the carriage to move unless I do it manually. The lock button is disengaged, it slides and moves flawlessly manually, but it will not move when typing.
Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong?!
The carriage moves perfectly when I press the backspace key but will not move for any other keys/space bar.
Thank you!
Note: the image is from google, but exact model.

Maybe there is something that is inserted backwards, enabling the carriage to move when you press the backspace key.
I do love the sound of a typewriter! It may be time to call an expert. This list is of repair places around the world. Hopefully there is one near you.
