This is a perfect craft that doubles as a learning resource and game to help your toddlers learn to count.
Pockets are made in the shape of carrots and then you place the carrot leaves into the pocket to match the numbers. Once your toddler is more advanced, untape and switch the order around to test your toddler.
Total Time: 15-20 minutes
Supplies:
- construction paper - orange, green, and a color for the background
- tape
- scissors
- black marker
Steps:
- Cut 5 triangle shapes to resemble carrots.
- Line up the triangle carrots. Then, tape the 2 triangle edges onto construction paper to create the pocket where the leaves will go in.
- Cut strips of green paper. Then, cut into pieces. These will be the carrot leaves your toddler will put into the carrot pockets. You will need 15 pieces, maybe some extras if you want in case your toddler loses them. When your toddler is more advanced you can throw extras in to see if your toddler knows those are extras. :)
- Number the carrots 1 to 5 with a pen.
- It is ready for your toddler to play with. On the back of the construction paper you can make a little pocket to store the green leaves or place the green leaves in a zip lock bag and store together with a clip so as not to lose the pieces.
