I have a 4 yr old Maine Coon Tabby mix, Jayden. I think he may have tapeworms, but I am not sure though. He's losing hair and has kinda bloody patches where he is itching like crazy. I have tried Lamisil and over the counter tape worm meds and nothing seems to work. It started to go away a little and he was starting to grow hair back, but that didn't last long.

Your cat is suffering and needs veterinary care now. If you were ill and needed medical care, you would expect to quickly see a doctor for appropriate treatment.
Find a way to take your cat to a vet now as you are not able to diagnose the problems your self and over the counter treatments are clearly not working. Your cat may have cat fleas and some type or types of worms. Both are very difficult to treat and need vet care now. Washing your cat every few days is useless (see the last paragraph below) and does not help as you cannot kill all the fleas, his skin dries and this just makes his scratching worse.
Also, if one of the problems your cat has is cat fleas (very common), you have an even bigger problem as cat flea eggs are produced daily by the thousands on your cat and fall off in your house and outside. These eggs then quickly hatch and jump back onto your cat to continue the same process over and over, ad infinitum.
You should stop washing your cat with Dawn. It is very drying. Used once it is not too bad, but used many times can cause problems. If fleas are really the problem you can use topical products from a pet store. They are the only way to stop the flea cycle.
The products from the Vet are better. Be sure to never use a flea product meant for dogs on your cat. It can be fatal. When you use Lamisil on your cat, the cat can lick it off.
Eating lamisil is not good for your cat. You may need to see a Vet to solve the skin problem. Don't bathe the cat too often, and when you do, get a good pet shampoo. The skin lesions may be a bacterial or fungal infection or both. It can be hard to get rid of, but Vets have the right products for it. Good luck.
Never use over the counter flea meds on your pets. They are toxic!
Stop washing your cat. Cats are fastidious groomers and washing them can remove natural oils and leave a residue no matter how well you rinse them that can sicken your cat. The scratching and hair loss is more likely from you washing him than the worms, which need to be treated by a vet.
That is not tapeworm that is ring worm probably and is not a parasite it's a fungal infection you need Malaseb shampoo to treat that skin condition.
Dawn dish soap is awesome but it will dry out Ur pets skin and wash out oils Ur cats NEEDS in their fur
The soap if used to much can cause Ur cat to develop a sensitivity as well
There is nothing to drive a person more crazy than constant itching. Its something you would do anything to stop. Imagine how your cat feels with this. Its unsufferable, so please consider it might not be fleas or worms, but another problem causing the itching.
Itching constantly drives anyone human or cat - crazy! Its non stop and even a human cannot bear it. Please take him to the vet to get to the bottom of it. In the meantime you can give some anti-histamines to stop the itching, but taking these long term will cause other health issues and is dangerous. Cats do not get the same dose as humans, but it is the same medication. The vet can give you the names and dosage rate. I give phenergon to my cat at 1 gram per kilo of cat, so I have a 10 kilo cat, I should give 10gram tablet once a day.
