I have a cat who is 6 years old. Right now she is losing her hair on her back legs and down her spine too. What can I do to help her, besides going to a vet?
I did change the kitty litter, thinking that might be it. She eats dry cat food. This has been going on for about 3 weeks. She is not an outside cat. She tried it one time, snuck out, but wanted right back in.
Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately our pets can't tell us when they aren't feeling up to snuff.
When you encounter problems like this, your best bet is to at least call your veterinarian because he or she can ask you specific questions (with hopefully a history with your vet) to try to pinpoint whether it is something to be concerned about or if something simple as a change in diet is in order.
Your cat can't tell you if the food is off. Cats and dogs can't tell you they have allergies to something. Your vet is the one to talk to when a drastic change happens to your pet. Cats, especially, need vet attention when something happens that quickly. Simply put, call your veterinarian. (02/22/2010)

Hello. Your baby needs to go to the Vet. Hair loss can be treated. Are you using a flea control on him/her? I use advantage and it works really well, even for inside cats. Good luck. (02/24/2010)
