I come home for lunch everyday to feed my dogs and check on them. Thursday, everything was normal. Both of my baby dogs were acting normal. I fed them and gave them a treat like I alway do before I leave. I came home after work and found my 6 year old Yorkie dead/cold dead. She was 14 lbs and bit overweight, but she was healthy, active, and playful. Her tongue was sticking out and stuck between her teeth. She had saliva around her mouth and a small amount of blood in her nose. She was in one of her favorite spots to sleep when it's hot. The air condition is running. The house temperature was about 76. I had the vet check if there was anything stuck in her throat. They didn't recommend I do a necropsy. They said it was expensive and they may not even know in the end. Why? Why did she die? Did she suffer and no one was there to save her? What am I missing here?

You will never know without an autopsy. Your dog could have had an undiagnosed heart defect or some illness. My condolences on the loss of your pet.
You have my deepest and heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beloved pup. May her little furry memory always be a blessing to you.
Sadly, the vet is correct that you may never know even with a necropsy.
Dogs and humans alike just pass suddenly and without any warning and it is so hard to wrap our minds around either.
All dog breeds have lists of possible congenital issues that are frequently undetected and could lead to sudden death. So do all people. I have lost beloved people and dogs and you can get yourself caught up in a downward spiral of asking why and what ifs that I can tell you from experience can be unhealthy for you.
My hope and prayer for you is that you can focus on the good memories and take comfort in the lovely life you gave your fur baby
If you feel you are having trouble with your grief, please, seek grief counseling. Our local animal shelter has free services (maybe yours does too) and one of our human funeral homes has services for people who have lost ANY (human or pet) loved one.
Post back with an update and take care of yourself!!
