What do I charge to mop and dust two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room and kitchen. The floor is all porcelain tile. I'll also be cooking breakfast, coming in 3 days a week, taking to doctor's appointments, running small errands The house is already really clean. It's an older gentleman and just mostly needs to see another person in the house.

Start with $15/hour and then add cost of any supplies, tools, and vehicle expenses (currently 56c/mile in the U.S.) you are expected to furnish. You also may choose to add a surcharge for any schedule deviations or overtime caused by the client. Take special care if you're expected to dose medicines of any kind, as this requires special licensing in many states.
You don't say where you are located, so I don't think anyone can give you accurate ranges. In Western PA you would fetch $18-20 an hour, but most people would not hire you unless you were bonded from an agency. So that is what the agency would charge, your salary would be less. If you are in the US, you may want to call your local small business development center and ask what rates are for your location and if there are specific requirements for licensing and bonding.
Thanks for asking! Blessings with your venture!
Where I live the absolute minimum is $20 per hour. If you are taking the gentleman in your car, check with your insurance company to make sure you are covered in case you are involved in an accident.
The cost of a house keeper in top U.S. cities ranges from $13.75 to $19.75 per hour. It depends on your location also...and then anything extra that will be added to housekeeping....like cooking and running errands. This site has some good info:
It sounds like the elderly gentleman is lonely and is looking for a companion more than housekeeper , you do not say if you know this person already . I would talk it over with the gentleman and find out the situation before you decide to do any thing .
I live in Wichita ,Ks I have been cleaning houses for 20years now I charge $25 an hour I use all their supplies/equipment I would recommend bidding for 4 hours spending at least 2 and half hours on cleaning and the other hour and half on cooking/errands as you get more familiar with the house/client may take less time its better to overbid time then to underbid people tend to frown on having to pay more then what was quoted better to deduct time/money if not used. Good luck I hope this helps
