I used to have to wear only gold or silver earrings. I have some costume earrings that are very pretty. When I try and wear them, my ear lobes end up getting red and sore. I have to treat them by rubbing them with antibiotic cream. One day I thought, why not treat the earring post with the antibiotic cream and then put them in my earlobes.

Thank you so much for the great tip. I'm going to try it as I find the same problem with costume jewelry and I've been avoiding wearing some pretty earrings.
What was the cream you used? Because I have only used methylated spirits. I have really sensitive ears and can't wear anything but expensive earrings.
I do the same thing! Great minds think alike! It works!!!
Where can you get antibiotic cream
Dorothy, I will try your suggestion. Thanks.... I guess I'm slow or, it just might be my time to try wearing earrings again. I have not worn earrings for around 40 years! Wish me luck! If you want, please contact me.
Hi my name is Jennifer i keep getting itchy ears from my earrings i hope you understand i tried that and it didn't work for me
did you try using rubbing to clean your ears alcohol
I know this comment is really late, but I always coat mine in two coatings of nail polish and it works really well. You'll have to reapply every couple weeks b/c the nail polish wears off. And make sure you cover all the metal. The antibiotic ointment doesn't work for me either.
i am sensitive to all type of earing even gold and silver.
What about face cream? Does it work the same as antibiotic cream for my ear lobes? Plz answer I rlly need to wear any earrings bc am sick of only wearing gold ones
It's not a bacterial infection that makes the ears red, swollen, and irritated. It's a reaction to the nickle in the earring posts. Vaseline works just as well.
