It's unusually hot here and our chickens are having a hard time staying cool. I decided to make this cooling station, so they can beat the heat and it provides an extra source of water. They love it and started using it right away. It's super simple too!
Use a large plastic plant saucer, place a round stepping stone in the middle, and fill the saucer with water. You may need to plop your chicken in the middle of it at first, so that they can feel how cool it is on their feet.

We have chickens to and they are always getting hot. So we will have to start doing that.
aw i love chickens!wish i still had mine!x
Will uses this and also freezing treats in containers for them to peck at - works great for bunnies and guinea pigs too.
I buy big bags of frozen mixed veggies and give some to my chicken during the hottest part of the day. Previous years we put misters up in a tree to
How does it not get warm when temps are up? I froze some corn kernels with water in ice cube trays. They usually wait until its half thawed lol.
Use frozen peas instead of corn. Corn makes their body temperature rise. I also freeze water in old milk jugs or soda bottles and put them in front of fans to cool the coops down and inside large dish pans to cook the water down that they can stand in.
We do this .we have a large kitty litter box , put a couple of bricks in it and fill the box w refrigerated water. We fill the box to the rim of the brick .
That is awesome. Thanks for sharing
