A friend is paying child support and he will start receiving his Social Security, as will his child. Can he stop the child support as the child's Social Security will be more than the child support or will the mother be able to get both checks?

Why not contact the tax bureau in Florida and ask them or contact Social Security. There is no charge to ask these questions. (02/21/2010)

In Pennsylvania, whenever there is a change in the income of either parent, the parties go back to court and sort it out. There are income formulas that the courts go by in determining child support payments. I would contact your local child support office and ask them. In PA, it's called the Office of Youth and Child Services (OYC) It might have a different name in your state. (02/21/2010)
