Adorable. He could be. He looks like one. You should always see the parents of a pup before you buy.
I asked the only thing i know is the mother is white in color.
It would be nice to see a side view, to see the length of the dog.
Your puppy looks like Chiweenie. His weight is normal. You can see the weight and age correspondence for this breed on this site www.thegoodypet.com/
Since Chiweenie is a mix between Chihuahua and Dachshund parents, you can expect Chiweenies to be on the small side and range a bit in weigh and height: at five to twelve pounds and in height from six to ten inches at the shoulder. This mean that many can be smaller or larger.
He is very young , but truly looks like a Chiweenie puppy - Here are a few pictures , that looks like your fur baby. www.bing.com/
Apparently you did not purchase him from a registered breeder or you would have some type of paper showing his breeding.
When you buy from just anyone selling puppies you at their residence you are more or less at their mercy and they can tell you anything, even show you 'parents' that may or may not be the real parents of the dog you buy.
Apparently you were told the mother is 'white' but I've never seen or heard of a white Chihuahua (maybe light tan & white) and never heard of a white Dachshund.
It's very possible your puppy is a Chiweenie but also possible there is another breed mixed in.
You mentioned his weight (1.4 pounds) but did not provide his age or size measurements - height & length in inches so therefore the weight is not very much help.
I believe he is too young for anyone to try and guesstimate his breeding because puppies make many changes in size and appearance during their first year.
A Chiweenie is a mix of Chihuahua & Dachshund and there is no way to tell if an offspring will take after one or the other so Chiweenies can have entirely different looks and sizes.
Hopefully you already have a vet and you could ask them for their opinion on his breeding.
It is very important that he has his first year shots/vaccinations.

Only a DNA test will tell your pups true breeding and those can be purchased online, pet stores/shops and vets.
Perhaps you could post back when your puppy is a little older and post his age, weight and height along with some stand up pictures.
He is adorable and since he is supposed to be a 'lapdog' I feel sure he will live up to that description.
Here is a good example of a Chiweenie that looks a lot like your pup but I believe your pup's legs are longer which could show he takes after the Chihuahua parent more than the Dachshund parent.
