Bronze Post Medal for All Time! 114 Posts Make a fancy chocolate bowl using a balloon! Great for any festive occasion.
Total Time: 1/2 hr
Ingredients:
- 1 chocolate bar 24 squares (12 squares per balloon) ($1)
- cooking oil spray
- 2 small balloons
Steps:
- Gather your supplies. Blow up balloon (preferably with a pump).
- Rinse balloon and dry with paper towel.
- Place balloon on a plastic bowl that will hold it at the bottom (knot facing downward). Spray cooking oil and rub all around.
- Get a plastic cup and put 12 chocolate squares to melt in microwave a few seconds. Be sure to watch that it not get too hot and burn.
- Take out melted chocolate and stir until it has cooled down some. It is very important that you touch the chocolate and make sure it is warm and not hot before pouring. Otherwise the balloon will pop!
- Start to pour from the middle top and make dribbling rows. Clean off any excess dripping at the bottom of plastic bowl.
- Place in the refrigerator for a few minutes or until hardened.
- Now this is the tricky part. Take the balloon and turn upside down on aluminum foil. You will cut with scissors just a tiny cut near knot while squeezing cut together with one hand, so that you SLOWLY release air.
- The chocolate will start to unstick from balloon. DO NOT pop the balloon!
- Once the balloon has deflated, you can fill with anything you want. I used cool whip and mandarin oranges.
- If at first you don't succeed don't worry you can still use the chocolate cup without the rows as in this picture. Turned down or upright.
- Have fun, good luck, and enjoy!
