I put in a light bulb into the light socket because it currently did not have a light. I replace it with a bulb I had been using. As soon as I did so it sparked. It did not make a sound and it turned off all of the upstairs lights. Help me please.

Remove the light from the socket and check your circuit breaker box. Make sure that all the breakers are clicked to on.
Once you are sure they are all on, check your upstairs lights. If they are working now, you have a short in that socket. Do not use it until you have it checked out by an electrician.
There is a short in that light and you shouldn't be using it at all if this has happened. Before you reset your breakers in your home, remove this from the outlet.
Have it checked by an electrician it could be a fire hazard it sounds like a short in the wire.
