For spot cleaning two parts hydrogen peroxide and one part blue Dawn. Spray on and brush in.

;) Great, Judy!
I was shocked at how well it worked. We had a professional come in and this was far better.
I'm doing it today-- I can't wait to see!
I have a carpet shampoo machine. I use oxyclean and hot water with a bit of Dawn on our carpets and rugs. I run it thru the machine and it works very well.
I have never tried the peroxide method. Some of our carpets are hunter green and navy blue, and we were cautioned on those to not use anything too strong as it could cause spotting. I always tried a hidden spot first to check for color safeness.
