Mine come off. I clean with mind dishwasher detergent, rinse and put back on.

Are you asking to clean the plastic on the light covers. Florescent lights sit in a light fixture that is hanging in the home. Is this correct?
If this is so, then you can't soak them. They have electric wiring in them so the lights will work.
Basically the only way to clean the light fixtures is by using a cleaning product. You can mix some vinegar and baking soda together. Add a little lemon if you want a clean fresh smell.

Now use your rag and clean the outside of the light fixtures.
When you clean these light covers be careful to not get the electrical wires wet.
If you can remove the plastic covering and don't have any electrical wires with it then you can clean and soak the plastic. I don't see why you would need to use hydrogen peroxide on them.

Peroxide might yellow the plastic, I would use another method to clean them-providing you are speaking of the covers and not the bulbs themselves.

You have probably read something that says to use hydrogen peroxide to remove the yellowing from florescent light fixture covers and this will work but it is a lot of trouble. If the fixture is old it may be a better idea to replace the fixture.

Here are a couple of links that explain how to clean your fixtures with hydrogen peroxide.

I use dishwashing detergent as well. Works like a charm.

You could also use wet wipes to clean the florescent light cover.
