Mix one part ammonia and one part hydrogen peroxide.
Swish the jewelry in the solution for a few seconds, then rinse with clear water.
This can be used on real gold, costume jewelry and jewelry with "hard" gemstones (diamonds, sapphires, rubies, emeralds, etc.)
DO NOT use this solution on any jewelry with pearls or opals.

Sorry, Southern Saver, you should not use ammonia on costume jewelry. It will ruin most of it. For thirteen years I have been making and selling an ammonia free jewelry cleaner called Reflections that is safe for all metals and stones, even opals and pearls.

Ammonia also leaves a residue on the back of diamonds and they will be cloudy in a few days. Please be careful about recommending ammonia, as it is very harsh.
