I have a few places on the outside of my leather purse where I accidentally put ink lines. The ink lines are visible and have been there for about one year. I tried a few times to remove the ink but to no avail.
What can I do to remove the ink without ruining my purse?
Thank you.

I have had the most success using a magic eraser or dipping a q-tip with alcohol.
Both of these seem to work better (for me) than hairspray which sometimes removed/changed the color.
My son uses saddle soap (found in almost all shoe departments of Walmart type stores) on his leather boots and this seems to work for a larger area but this also conditions the leather so it might also be worth a try.
Try to rub lightly as even rubbing hard with a magic marker can/may remove some of the color.
Let purse dry and determine if you need to retry one method before going to another solution.
It seems one point to remember with any solution you try is to test a small inconspicuous area before attempting the "seen" areas.
I always finish the cleaning routine by applying a leather conditioner to the spot - using a clean towel.
Even leather cleaners/conditioners from the auto department have worked for me.
Magic erasers are awesome! Start with the damaged area and blend further out. Leather and Murphys Oil soap are friends, go lightly! Good luck
I tried the Alchohol and q tip method and it took the color off of my purse. do not do this
Try hairspray on the bottom. If it works, use it on the rest of the purse. You could also try a Magic Eraser.
It will be difficult to remove an old stain like this without losing some of the colour. As the previous posters have suggested, alcohol might do it but there's a risk.
Yep, the alcohol took the colour right out of my Pierre Cardin bag :{
A week ago I tried the leather cleaner first, next the hairspray & lastly the alcohol on a Q-tip. Nothing worked. I don't know what a 'magic eraser' is?
Hair spray, a magic eraser and some elbow grease.
Rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer works very well.
it probably does work well but withmy bright orange/yellow colored michael kors it did fade the color in the spot, so test an incospicuous spot first
I tried alcohol pads, hairspray and WD40, and they didn't work. Then I took a qtip and gently rubbed it with nail polish remover. Bingo! Just a tiny trace, and if you didn't know it was there, you would never know at all.
After getting ink on my white leather purse, and removing some ink with alcohol and q-tip, I used "White Out." I realize this will only work on white surfaces, but man, did it work, and didn't take off any leather.
