Will diluted Clorox damage colored, painted walls? They are stained with mold.

Even it it did lighten the paint, you need to get rid of the mold. And diluted bleach is actually more effective than full strength for killing mold and mildew, too! (01/28/2010)

Use 1/2 teaspoon of oil of cloves (you can get it in your drug store) diluted in 1 litre of water in a cheap spray bottle. Shake it up. Spray on lightly, wipe it over. Will kill the mold in a few days. You may need to dust off the dead mold in a few days.
This will actually kill the mould naturally.

Cleaning mold with bleach is pretty much a myth; check out this page from the EPA: epa.gov
Basically, they suggest cleaning with detergent and water, thoroughly drying and then making sure that whatever the cause of the mold buildup is, is addressed. This would mean checking and repairing any plumbing problems, leaks, windows or doors that need weatherstripping or replacement.
It also says that if you're talking about a 10 ft. square area or bigger it might be in the long-range best interests of your health and the construction of the wall to get the professionals in. If it's a large area and you don't get it all, it will continue to grow and consume more wall area (as well as likely make you sick). (01/28/2010)
