Cleaning Rubber From Fabric?

I was pulling in the garage and as I was pulling in, I forget about a fabric couch. My front tire rubbed up against the arm of the couch leaving a black smudge. I have looked online for some help cleaning the rubber off from the couch. No luck! Please give me some advice on how to clean the couch?

Removing rubber from fabric

Step 1
Scrape off as much as possible

Step 2
Apply tea tree oil to a white piece of fabric

Step 3
Dab the rubber stain with the fabric. The oils will break down the rubber trapped in the fibers and release them.

Step 4
Apply cold water to the oil

Step 5
Wash the garment as usual.

You need:
ice, a butter knife or spoon, upholstery cleaner recommended by the furniture manufacturer, a soft brush, soft cloths.

1. Test a hidden spot for color fastness to the water from the ice and the solvent from the upholstery cleaner.

2. Apply the ice directly to the stain, wait several moments for the rubber residue to harden.

3. Using the blunt tip of a butter knife or spoon, gently scrape solid residue from the upholstery.

4. Following the label directions, use the upholstery cleaner to work on the remaining stain. You may need a soft brush to help with the job, for example a toothbrush.

5. Wipe away any residue with a clean, soft cloth.

6. Once the rubber is removed, allow the area to dry completely.

Try a waterless hand cleaner like mechanics use: D&L Hand cleaner, Fast Orange, GOJO, Goop, etc. They can be found in the auto department of Walmart, or at Autozone or another automotive supply store. You can scrub in the hand cleaner, then spot clean the couch with an upholstery cleaner.

I once cleaned fresh tar off the back of my 6 year old son's nylon windbreaker jacket with D&L Hand Cleaner and a stiff scrub brush, after he leaned against a power pole. It took some effort, but it cleaned it perfectly. Then after running it through the wash, you would never know it happened....thank goodness, as the jacket was only a few days old. Good luck.

Maybe WD-40 and Dawn will help you.
Put WD-40 on the stan and let it sit for a few hours. Then put Dawn in it.

Try Lestoil. Put Lestoil on the stain and leave it overnight. Laundered again the next day.
