Baking soda is one of the best household items to use to clean cook tops and especially if they are glass. I have used baking soda to clean out pyrax dishes with baked on food. This will not scratch or damage the inside of your dishes. It will not scratch or damage a glass cook top if you rub it gently with a sponge. Do not get abrasive with this otherwise it can scratch the cook top and it can look horrible. I normally use a paper towel when I clean the cook top this way it won't damage the surface.

I use baking soda and white vinegar to clean my stove top and generally only use a microfiber cloth but any soft cloth will do.
Always start with a small amount - just enough to dampen the surface. Clean with clear water.

There is a product called Magic Eraser. This is a great product and specifically made for smooth tops!

My friend spreads her glass stove top with baking soda and vinegar (fizzes up) then spreads and old white bath towel that has been soaked in boiling water and lays the towel over the fizzy stuff and lets it sit for a few hours. She then uses the towel to sop up the mess and remove the stains. Her stove top is spotless and the towel then washes up in the wash and waits for the next clean up.

She says she does it to reduce the risk of the baking soda scratching the top.
