Help me clean my plastic tub, it grosses me out. I like my bathtub sparkling but it's plastic which is new for me from porcelain. I've tried so many remedies these cover overs frustrate me, so I just keep it in my head I know it's at least clean. Please, please help me!
A paste made from sodium bicarbonate and hydrogen peroxide can remove tough stains from your bathtub. Mix baking soda with enough hydrogen peroxide to form a thick paste, then apply the paste to all stubborn stains. Use a sponge or a soft-bristled brush to scrub the gentle abrasive into the surface without scratching it.
Yes, a paste of baking soda and peroxide work well, and so does a paste of baking soda and white vinegar. But the real trick is.... rinse well, squeegee, and then wipe dry, your tub/shower and enclosure when you're done !!!!! Any water left on the tub/shower anywhere, will leave spots and minerals as it dries.
You state that you have already 'tried so many remedies' that we may just be repeating solutions you have already tried.
I have used the following solutions on different tubs and had good results but the condition of the tub will probably determine what works best.
The gel-type cleaner works best for walls as it will not run off as other liquid cleaners will. Make a gel cleaner using 6 tablespoons of cornstarch mixed in 2 cups of water, and heated until thickened. Remove from heat and add 12 tablespoons of bleach.
Mix and smooth on tub and wait up to one hour.

Never use bleach at full strength on any surface. It should always be diluted with water first.
A paste of dish soap and baking soda left for at least an hour on stubborn stains and rinsed with vinegar and hot water.
Product cleaners sometimes have to be used.

These tubs are the worst!! When I had one in a rental I would fill the tub with hot water, tide and dawn and let it sit over night. It always came clean. I wish I knew the squeegee trick! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!!
Remember, wear the proper safety equipment when cleaning with a chemical in your plastic tub.
Alcohol easily removes stains on the plastic.
Start by flushing your tube out with hot water. Let it sit for about 10 minutes.
The oxidizing effect of chlorine could get rid of most of any stains on your plastic bathtub. Chlorine destroys stains by further dissolving them into smaller particles that will then be easier to flush or scrub off. Remember, chlorine is very harmful if its not handled properly. When cleaning with chlorine, always wear protective gear like masks, hats, gloves, and glasses.
Hydrogen peroxide could be used to remove mildew from plastic tubs. Pour a generous amount of peroxide into your tub and let it sit on the surface for 10 minutes. Then scrub off the moldy spots using a scouring brush. Flush the area with water after youre done.
For the best result, create a paste by adding 3 tablespoons of baking soda and 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide to a bowl. Apply this paste onto the stained area of the tub and leave it for about 10 minutes. Scrub until the stains disappear. Then, rinse it all with water.
Mix baking soda with water to make the paste, then sprinkle it into the bathtub especially in the stained area. Let it stand for 10 minutes. Then, mix vinegar with water into a spray bottle and spray it on the stained area of your bathtub. Scrub with a brush until the stain is gone. Then, flush with water to clean it all up.
Spray the lemon water on the tub and leave it there for a whole night. Then, scrub the stain and mold away. Repeat this procedure until the tub is clean. Finally, flush it with water to get rid of any residue left by the acid in the lemon.
Mix the dish soap with water and spray it on your bathtub. Itll foam, so scrub it all over using a sponge or brush. Then, flush your tub with plenty of fresh running water.
Bleach should only be used on white bathtubs! Use bleach diluted with water for light stains, undiluted for heavy stains. Simply apply the bleach directly on stains, and let it sit until the stain disappears. Then rinse off the bleach.
I think the veneer has worn off your plastic tub. I think it's time to refinish it. Here is how to refinish plastic bathtubs using a refinishing kit:

Purchase a refinishing kit that is compatible with your plastic bathtub.
I found a YouTube video about How to properly clean a plastic tub using Lysol Lemon Breeze All Purpose Cleaner Spray:
www.youtube.com/
Spray it, let it sit 5-10 min, then use a Magic Eraser to clean the surface.
Lysol Lemon Breeze All Purpose Cleaner "Kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria. Cuts through tough grease and soap scum. Provides long lasting freshness. Can be used on hard, non-porous surfaces in the kitchen, bathroom and other areas of the home"

Plastic bathtubs are made out of ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene), acrylic resins, glass-fiber reinforced polyester and a number of other different polymer materials. Do not use Lysol spray with bleach on acrylic plastic. Lysol Lemon Breeze All Purpose Cleaner does not contain bleach, so it can be used on acrylic plastic.
Soap scum build up on a tub can be very difficult to remove. This is a page about removing soap scum build up from a plastic tub.
This is a page about cleaning rust stains from a plastic bathtub. Old plumbing can cause rust in the water to leave stains on your bathroom fixtures. Removing these stains can be a challenge. You will need to use the best solution for your tub based on the material it is made of.
