My dad passed away when I was 14 years old. I didn't know of a thing called Survivor's benefits. I am now 33. Is it too late to get Survivor's benefits and could I receive back pay for it?

Who took care of you when you were 14? You don't say, but I am assuming it was your mother. At any rate, that person probably filed for your survivor's benefits since you were a minor at the time. Because you were a minor, that money would not have come directly to you. It would have gone to your guardian on your behalf to be used to take care of you. That would mean your shelter, food, clothes, etc. Those benefits would have stopped when you turned 18 (or 19 if you were still in high school at that age). You would not be able to collect now.
You cant collect now. You would have to be 19 at most.
I do not think so but contact them here is contact link www.ssa.gov/
I think your guardian would be entitled, but not back pay.
At the times of your father's death your mother or legal guardian needed to file the paperwork for your survivor's benefits. These benefits are set up to help the parent or guardian pay some of the daily expenses of raising you until you are 18 or 19 depending on if you are in school or not.
Survivor benefits can't be claimed years after the fact. Furthermore, it isn't possible that you go and claim your own survivor benefits this is up to your mother or legal guardian to do in your behalf.
Once you turned 18 any possibility of receiving these benefits stops. The account is closed and you can't open it again. When your mom retires and if she was married to your father for more than 10 years Social Security will look at your father's account and your mother's account to determine your mother's social security benefits.
When my father died social security adjusted my mother's benefits and increased her monthly payment based on my dad's social security benefits. I'm sorry, but there is no possible way for you to receive back survivor benefits from social security.
It is too late. However, you can call ss and see if they may have paid to your caregiver. They may have and you may not have even been aware.
