Put the watch in a small covered container with 1/4 cup uncooked rice. Let sit overnight. The rice draws out the moisture. The watch will work again.

The rice trick did not work for my watch. It is a g shock which was unused for many years but when I removed my watch from it's box the watch wwas not working and there was fog on it's screen I tried using ur rice method but it did not work can u tell me another way please.
Bought a charming second hand, old fashioned watch recently from the op shop. Several times condensation has filled its face. Rather than wait days and hope for the best, I shoved the watch into my dried rice canister yesterday afternoon.
why not more than 1/4 cup?
this used to happen all the time when i was a dishwasher and forgot about the watch...used to let in sit in the sunshine or blow dryer would clear it up and than it would start to go once again, good luck
If the back pops off of the watch (for battery replacement) take that off and blow dry the watch.
used to happen all the time with a timex. I would dip my arm down in swim pool to check readings. It just dried out on its own, always kept working
If you can pop the back off, do it and let it air dry. I've done this more than once. lol
I had the this problem and was told by someone in a jewelry dept. to take the back off and let it air dry for a few days. It worked!!!
You could always place it above a reading lamp, or for that matter any lamp in the house and in a few hours the head from the lamp will dry it out.
Manila, Philippines: the rice solution works. I couldn't get the back off the watch. In the absence of any watch repair shops in the area, I put the watch in rice in a bag and left it in the sunlight for 24 hours.
But there's only 12 hours of sunlight a day

My mom said to put it in rice and leave it there for a week or two, maybe less. The rice must be all around the screen.
I'm sorry to tell you that the rice thing is an Asian joke "put it in rice and an Asian will come at night to fix it"
It is definitely not just a joke. Rice has been historically used to protect camera equipment from humid environments and is also used in salt shakers to prevent clumping. While there are better desiccants out there (like silica and cat litter), rice is something that most people have on hand in case of an emergency.
Yes putting it in rice in a sealed container worked. Took a few days as after each day it was clear but little moisture would leak back after an hour. My Swatch watch was hit by a pressure hose of water (and so was I!), otherwise it is pretty water resistant.
Always side with caution with putting anything electronic in rice, the dust from the rice can create a puddy. And fry circuits
