I found a damaged tote bag that was dumped in the stock room. Some parts were damaged where the handles are attached. The inner parts were also torn, so I just thought of turning it into a trash bag.
Supplies:
- tote bag
- glue stick or strong hold glue
- stapler
- pen
- scissors
Steps:
- Start cutting the bag open from side to side.
- Divide the bag into two. On one side draw a circle pattern, this will be the base. Draw a border 1 1/2 inches wider than the size of the base.
- Cut out the pattern and clip the notches for easy attachment. Cover the circle base with a piece of cardboard of the same size.
- The other side of the bag will be used as the body of the trash can. Attach extra clippings to extend it's length to be able to meet the diameter of the base as you roll it.
- Make two 1cm folds on the top and side edges for the hem. The lower part had big holes so I folded it in 2 inches to hide the holes.
- Roll the body of the bag based on the size of the circle base. Glue from end to end.
- Cover the cardboard base with clippings and push down inside the bag.
- Carefully fold and secure the notches in with hot glue.
- Attach the handles to the rim using a stapler.
- Get a large disposable plastic bagged properly set inside the trash bag.
- Place in your preferred area. Replace the plastic bag whenever needed.
