I just got lower dentures. I had a partial for a couple years and my front teeth part wasn't there. It's on my lower denture. How far down is it supposed to go? The denture pushes down my cheek where it meets my gum. It's quite painful. Is it something that my mouth will get used to or should I have the dentist fix it?

If takes about a month to get used to dentures. I would not hesitate to call the dentist if I were in pain
How long has it been since your lower was placed?
Have you been back for a check up?
It does take several weeks for you and your mouth to adjust to new dentures but I do not think you should have serious pain.
By all means talk with your dentist as this should be an ongoing procedure until you feel everything is good with your dentures.
I have recommended to others with dental problems a dental forum site where you can post questions and receive answers from other dentists.
Be sure to check that you will not be charged although I did not see one that charges for answers you have to check this for yourself. I know that most sites are free.

I went back to the dentist last week and she ground away just about all of the sore spots. Now it's just getting used to them and getting my gums tough.
This is good news.
So glad pain is less and your gums will toughen up after a couple of weeks but I think that I would continue eating soft and semi-soft food during this period.
