Craftsman Mower Turns Over Won't Start?

I hope someone can help. I have a Craftsman 4000 lawnmower that I love and really like. Here's the deal I was cutting grass and it backfired and cut off. I tried to start it back up and all it's doing is turning over and won't start

If you lawn mower backfired you can check this:

Normally the carburetor will backfire due to bad gas in the mower.
Did you leave gas in the mower the last time you used it?
If so this makes a sludge in the tank and the carburetor.
You will need empty all gas out of the mower.
Clean your carburetor.
Check and change the spark plugs if they are dirty.
