Nothing happens when I turn the key. It will start when I run a jumper cable from the battery to the starter. I replaced the solenoid, but it is still not starting. I have no idea what to do or check?

Check under the seat for a safety switch, it may be stuck open or closed.
can you show me the safty switch so I know what to check for
Either what Mary Lou P. stated or it might be the kill switch to the mower deck if it is attached.
Lawn mower wont start jump cable to battery to solenoid turn over but won't start and the cable get super hot turn like not to much power Please help
If the cable is getting super hot, likely that there is a short in the harness to the key or solenoid. double check all ground connections and positive connections from the battery forward.
Check ur bolt on ur starter and see if it is loose if it's strip it's not getting a good connection.
It is your main fuse its up under the solenoid switch look for to red wires and there it is
