My Craftsman riding mower runs, but when you push the clutch in, the motor dies. What is the cause?

The operator presence switch is under the seat. It prevents the mower from running if no one is sitting on it. It may be malfunctioning or disconnected.
Sears has a very good service center and usually are very helpful with support questions.
Try contacting your local center (Google Sears service center with your zip code) and give them a call.

Lots of suggestions on the forum below. Hope that can help you.
There is a safety feature where if you get off the seat, the switch under the seat will kill the engine or stop the blades.
Some even pulled the sensors off if it's malfunctioning (which is not recommended though)
