I have a 27 hp Craftsman riding mower that stopped running while cutting the grass. It was serviced 1 month ago with a new battery and oil and blades. When the key is turned to the on position, it does nothing, but when the starter solenoid is hit with the positive cable, the motor spins really really slowly. The oil is up to the full mark, the fan belt for the blades was released to maybe help it start, but that doesn't help at all.

I'd suggest that you check under the seat of the tractor. There is a start switch safety switch there. At times this gets jarred and needs to be reset. The switch is normally engaged when you sit on the seat to turn on the mower. This would be the first place to start.
The next place to look would be for the belts on the mower if it is spinning slow after it has been started with a screwdriver.
Check the battery for a charge because it seems that the mower isn't getting enough power to spin the engine at full speed.
You might need a new carburetor.
