The completed flags next to a sign. For a Pride month activity, I created this craft for the art room. Everyone can make their own flag, either a traditional rainbow, or one of the many other flags which represent different identities.

This is a craft which can basically run itself with simple enough instructions. It doesn't need to be constantly supervised but just tidied occasionally.

Total Time: 15 Minutes

Supplies:

Instructions Sheet (Click to download)
Flag Templates (Click to download)
Straws or Sticks for Flag Poles
Markers (Washable)
Scissors
Tape

Steps:

Print out the flag template file and the instructions using the links in the Supplies list above. I like to set up the instructions in a sign holder. Each template yields four flags.
Lay out the materials including your markers, straws or sticks for the flag poles, tape, and scissors.
Each participant cuts out a flag outline, colors it in, and then tapes a straw or stick to the end so they can carry around the flag.

For younger kids you could also pre-cut the templates.

This craft is easily adapted to other events like the Fourth of July or you could use team or school colors as well.
