Crispy Tuna Cheese Puffs

Crispy Puffs with sauceThese little crispy pockets of tuna and cream cheese are an excellent appetizer or side to a meal. I came up with them because I adore crab rangoons, but don't always have those ingredients handy. I always have tuna and cream cheese around! These can be pan fried or baked. I've added both methods in this recipe.

I used gyoza wrappers here because I like they're a bit thicker, but you can also use wonton wrappers.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

Yield: 25 puffs

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. Place all ingredients (except gyoza wrappers) into a bowl and mix.

  3. Place 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center of each gyoza wrapper.

  5. Dab a bit of water around the edges of a wrapper with your finger.

  7. Fold in half, keeping the filling in the center with your fingers, then crimp the edges shut with your fingernail.

  9. To pan-fry, add a couple tablespoons of oil to a pan over medium-high heat, and add dumplings in a single layer. Cook a couple minutes, until downside is golden.

  11. Flip and cook the other side another minute or two.

  13. Place on a paper towel to drain.

  15. If you want to bake them, place on a greased baking sheet in a preheated 400F oven. Cook for 7 minutes, flip over, then cook another 7 minutes.

  19. Allow to cool for 5 minutes as the insides will be piping hot. Serve with sweet and sour sauce.
