Bookmarks are a fun way to use up those odds and ends that you don't know what to do with. They are also a nice instant gratification project! This butterfly will hold your place nicely. It's extra cute with google eyes too. You can make a whole family of butterflies.
Total Time: About 15-20 minutes
Supplies:
- "h" crochet hook
- tiny amounts worsted weight yarn
- scissors
- embroidery needle for weaving in ends
Steps:
- Ch 7, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch until end. Work 2 sc in end ch.

- Rotate your work all the way around so that you can work on the other side of the ch. Work 5 sc on the opposite side.

- You will be joining in the first sc here, see?

- Slip stitch in the next stitch, ch 8.

- Slip stitch in the same space that you just chained in.

- Slip stitch in the next 2 stitches, ch 8.

- Ch 8, slip stitch in the same space that you just chained from.

- Ch1, turn. Slip stitch in the ch 8 space, ch 1, work 8 sc.

- Slip stitch in the same space that the chain was coming from, the next space, and the last ch 8 loop.
- Ch 1, work 8 sc in the loop, slip stitch to the space that the chain is coming from, and next 3 stitches. This is centering you on the body so that you can ch for the bookmark.

- Ch 44, less or more depending on the height of your book.
- Fasten off leaving a 1-2 inch tail.

- Tie end in a simple overhand knot to re-inforce.
- Unravel ends to create a frilly tail.

- Weave in your ends.

- It looks fine plain.

- It is even cuter with tiny googly eyes hot glued to the top of the face.

- Enjoy!:)
