With a little yarn and a hook, you can make this cute candy corn butterfly magnet.
Total Time: 20-30 minutes
Yield: 1
Supplies:
- 1 yd yellow yarn
- 1 yd orange yarn
- 1 yd white yarn
- 1 size I hook
- 1 scissors
- 2 in magnet strips
- 1 hot glue gun
- 2 buttons
- 8 in ribbon
Steps:
- With your hook, chain 11 of the yellow. Turning, make a single crochet in the 3rd chain, and a single in each of the following 8 chains for a base row of 10. Turn and make a single in the last row for 10. Leave a tail and break off.
- Add the orange yarn and make two rows in that color. Break off and add the white, making two rows as well but make a third in a slip stitch.
- The base row is always a bit "taller" since it has a chain. Your center row doesn't have to be that tall as it's scrunched up in the center. You want your last row of white to be about the same as the base row of yellow. This "slip stitch" row gives it that affect.
- Use your ribbon, of any color you choose, to be the "body" of the butterfly, and the ends that make the knot is the "antennae". Tie it pretty tight, but not so tight you can't maneuver the crocheted part to make the wings work.
- Since butterflies usually have pretty decorations on them, I thought a couple buttons might look cute. You can leave these off if you want. Glue your magnet onto the back and you are set. N-JOY!!
