Crocheting and Pet Hair?

I have cats, but I also love to crochet. What are some ways to make sure their hair doesn't get tangled up in the yarn, or how can I remove the "allergy" part of the hair so it won't make anyone sick or give them a rash or something?

Cat dander (from their hair) is what people with allergies react to. You may wish to hand wash your finished products with a mild soap, warm water, cool water rinse, lay flat to dry (on a surface with no cat hair and where the cats can't get to it). When dry, bag or box securely, again ensuring your cats can't get to it. (My sister has cats and this is what she does whenever she makes something for me. Works extremely well.)
