My wife and I can't seem to figure out much together when it comes to home decor. Any advice on curtain colors for a family room and dining room? See attached pics.

You know what might be fun, JBrandon? Gradient dye some fabric. If you're at all interested, head over to your nearest fabric store and buy some sheers in light beige material to match your kitchen / dining area. Maybe do just one panel (6 - 7') to see if you like the result? The same fabric shop should also carry fabric dye and why not try to match the walls in your family room. Then check out the method described here www.youtube.com/
Have fun!
I would choose solid beige curtains for the living room, so no prints clash with the open plaid kitchen. The beige paint will compliment and draw together both rooms and your fabric furniture. Adding a couple toss pillows that match the kitchen valances plaid print would look very attractive on the living room seating and break up the solid colors of walls/furnishings in that room while merging the two.
My spare room / craft room is done red too lol I used a cream colored curtain color and there is a goldish colored pattern on them I would take another pic of them but my digital camera battery ran out so I'm out of luck hope this helps some :) (This room really isn't decorated yet some excuse the mess :D )
