Don't forget! March 13 is the day to move your clocks forward 1 hour (spring forward, fall back). Most people do it Saturday night before going to bed.
This is also the time of the year to change out the batteries in your smoke alarms. If your smoke alarm has been in a fire, in a room with a fireplace or wood stove, in the kitchen, or in the home of smokers, the alarm needs to be replaced every 3 years. The constant exposure to smoke can make the sensor not as sensitive. Think of how the yellow film builds up in a smoker's home on their windows, TV, and such. The same thing happens to the sensor inside the alarm.
Also, check your home fire extinguishers and make sure they are holding a good charge. If you don't have one, get one. You can find them at Lowe's, Home Depot, or Walmart. You should have one in the kitchen, in the master bedroom (so parents can get out at night to get the children out) and in older children's and teen's rooms as well.
