I have a fairly new Hoover rug cleaning machine with two containers. One is for the solution and the other is where the dirty water flows back into. The directions are quite easy and state that both containers click into place. That said, I cleaned my rug in the living room and when I went to get rid of the dirty water, that's when I noticed there wasn't any.

I have had this problem often with mine and every time I didn't have it clicked into place. Are you sure you have it on properly? It's really easy to NOT get it clicked into place. Mine is also a Hoover. If that doesn't solve you problem I'd call the manufacturer.
Yes, it is easy NOT to have the dirty water tank clicked into place correctly!
I have the exact same problem. My feet become dirty - I go barefoot all the time inside the house- and that means that the dirt is at the bottom of the foundation coming up through the carpet and getting on my feet and so Im going to have to drive all the way to the next town over to get them to take a look at this thing but it is a design flaw in my opinion. Past the point you cannot get it clean on my Pet Dash. I can actually see all the filth and gunk that I cannot get out (I can clean it up to a point) but then the openings are so narrow theres no way to get to it and it is maddening. Certainly the design engineers saw this and just didnt give a d*mn~Im furious!
Assure that the lid to the recovery tank is on properly. If the lid is not seated properly, the tank is unable to form the vacuum needed to suction up the dirty water.
i have the same problem what pain!!!
Take reservoir bucket off and there is a small screen filter make sure its clean. That was my problem. Wiped fuzz off with finger snapped bucket back on and Voila.
My bottom tank won't fill on my New Hoover smart Wash carpet cleaner. What must I do?
I have the new Hoover smart wash and same dang thing. Dirty water tank doesn't fill up. I am getting very angry
Having the same problem. Dirty water not being sent to bucket. Cleaned entire unit.
PS~Make sure that that round rubber stopper/flap is pushed in all the way because if its not in the air goes right out and youll lose that section. I actually take masking tape and put a long strip on there and that keeps it from catching & pulling out (again -another design flaw)
My hoover was not filling the dirty water tank so what I had to do was remove the scrub brushes canister (2 screws )press down on the top tabs to remove it middle screw on the middle scrub brush I removed them all and they act as a filter is what it seems too me by removing them and flipping them over one at a time wow! So much hair completely clogged !Problem Solved! Yea!
My carpet has motor oil spilled on it. How can I get it out?
