in the past i do belive that mental illnesses such as bipolar and psychotic disorders you could get disability for. Depression I'm not certain but I believe that yes, as well

however, nowadays it is far harder to qualify due to the state of politics in this country

you do need to contact your local SSDI office and possibly have your psychiatrist broker the interaction

If the disability is severe enough to prevent you from going to work, I would think so. You would have to have documentation from a psychiatrist.
