This project involves using a "wash paint" technique to make a distressed look on furniture.
Total Time: 4 hours
Yield: 1
Supplies:
- sandpaper
- finishing sander
- acrylic chalk paint
- white flat paint
- foam paintbrushes
- water based varnish
Steps:
- Sand the old paint by hand, or in combination with a finishing sander. This is the most time consuming part of the project and it depends on what color your old paint is and how difficult it is to remove.
- Paint with the white base coat paint. Let dry completely.
- Mix chalk paint with water using a 1:1 ratio. Paint the surface of the furniture. Let to dry for 15 minutes.
- With a wet rag, wipe off chalk paint randomly over surface to give it a distressed look. Let dry. Varnish and let dry thoroughly before use.
