A friend told me to go to Walmart and buy an RCA UHF/VHF/Digital Indoor Antenna antenna for about $10. Then run the program on your Digital TV to program channels. I get about 30 channels, very clearly except in bad weather, for free. You have to play around with antenna placement (like the old days), but it works!

I got 61 channels from mine and also added netflix to the tv watching. I basically watch netflix. I turned the cable on for the tyler perry season and just called today to turn it back off. I missed it a few weeks so I give up.
About a year ago I desperately didn't want to give in to paying for cable TV. So I purchased a digital antenna from Radio Shack. At first we installed it on the wall right above the TV so it would be close to the window for reception. That didn't work out too well since the reception was so poor. Then we used suction cups and attached it to the window. So much for the antenna when it melted and was of no use to us.
So now we are back to cable TV. We live in an apartment complex and are restricted and can't do what we want to do. I enjoy watching many of the channels that I could never receive with a digital antenna. My husband and I don't buy season tickets on sporting events or go out to the movies. So the money that we do save, we pay for the internet and cable TV.
This is a good idea, we did this a few months ago ourselves. It really does save a bunch of money. Netflix is great too.
Do you all live in Canada or USA? Does it work in Canada? I'm thinking it might be good for camping. Unless you're hemmed in by big trees. Your thoughts anybody?
I tried an antenna and had NO luck. I have a relative that uses an antenna and it's a real pain. The picture sometimes goes out and nearly every time he changes channels he has to move the antenna around.
I'm with Betty. We use Dish and can record "Prime-Time Anytime," four channels every night from 7 to 10, plus we can record two more cable shows on top of that. Watching TV is our main source of entertainment.
1. Please make sure you are using a Digital TV; not an older analogue TV. If you don't know the difference ask a teenager; they'll know.
3. The antenna from Walmart is only $10. If it doesn't work for you, simply return the antenna.
4. There are other Digital antenna that might pick up the signals better but I've not tried them.
5. Please consider this an intro to "digital TV".

We don't miss cable or satellite TV. Neither my wife nor I follow sports. News I can get from the radio or computer. Movies, our only reason to turn a TV on, are plentiful and cheap at Walmart or Red Box.
