My twelve year old Lab has always been healthy. He is acting fine and eating fine and playing fine. However he is drinking excessively and going outside to pee quite a bit. The house is extremely dry from the heat, but just today he has gone in the house twice. This is something he never did.

Dogs can get diabetes and kidney diseases. Please take him to the vet.
My 13 yr old Jack-mix became anxious after I was gone for 4 hours and had to go-go when I came in. He had been drinking more and I had thought it was due to warm weather. I then found that he had been peeing in my office, even though he previously hadn't had accidents. I scolded him and he would not come into the office, but then I took him to the vet and found that he had early kidney disease.
My dog had these same S&S, she was diagnosed with Cushing's at 13yrs and as the Vet said she die from something else but not from Cushings. She takes Vetoryl daily
MY DOG DEVELOPED INSIPIDOUS DIABETIES CAUSING HIM TO DRINK TO EXCESS. DOORS ALWAYS OPEN BUT HE NOW IS PEEING IN THE HOUSE. THERE IS NO CURE FOR THIS TYPE OF DIABETES AND A 500 PILL IS AVIALABLE SO VET SAID THAT AFTER MUCH TESTING HE WOULD BE FINE SO LONG AS WATER IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE!
Dogs can get some of the same conditions humans get. Excessive thirst and frequent urinating are 2 red flag signs of diabetes. Has puppy been checked?
Has any blood work been done to rule out Cushings disease or diabetes? Any changes in your home such as new people in the house, remodeling, more stress than usual?
could also be a thyroid problem.
My dog is about 9 or 10 and recently started to pee in the house but she acts like she does not even know she is doing it. Is this just something going on with old age or does she have a health problem?
