My 6 month old Border Collie cross Bull Terrier came down with Parvo on Monday of last week. She was hospitalized immediately. Now she is back to herself; I got to take her home Thursday. I am still giving her the remaining antibiotics. Her last antibiotic will be today.
She is due for her first Parvo shot tomorrow. Will this kill her? To see her like she was last week was upsetting enough, and stressful for her, too. Will this vaccine cause the virus to flare up again? A friend had this happen to them where their dog got better, then he vaccinated the dog and it died.

Guuyyyys! Vet tech here. Yes, your dog will have immunity to parvo once he or she recovers, but YOU DO NEED TO VACCINATE because the vaccine contains other viruses that they need protection against. That's why it's called a 4 in 1 or 5 in 1, because it's a vaccine for four or five DIFFERENT viruses, not just parvo.
I would consult with the vet and then make my decision.
Vaccinations are important for future health and prevention. The vet should guide you on all decisions!!
PS, so happy to hear your baby is well now. Ongoing prayers for health!!
