Dog Has Strong Odor When Nursing?

Our dog had puppies, she is healthy and has no odors, however when the puppies are nursing she puts off a horrific odor, I mean horrible. When the pups are done the odor passes and she smells normal. Any ideas or suggestions of what's causing this?

Hello,
I will assume that you had taken her to your Veterinarian for an examination while she was pregnant. If, so, please call your Vet and he/she can answer these questions for you. There may be a few reasons she has an "odor" while nursing. Please call, you want to make sure there is nothing wrong with her milk while she is nursing and the puppies are not in jeopardy of being sick for some reason. Good luck.
