I have a 5 yr. old Shepherd Lab mix who has eaten sticks all of her weaned life. She gradually eats her oak throwing sticks in noticeable amounts a day. I'm wondering how safe it is for her to do.

Please have your vet check her out as soon as you can. Our vet said when pups eat weird stuff they have a vitamin deficiency and it is important to get it resolved with food or a supplement and NOT the "foreign" item, which can end up causing blockages or tears in the stomach.
This is can be very serious and even though she has always been doing this that it is getting worse really needs checked out.
Post back with an update! Prayers for a quick and easy solution!!
This is a subject to be discussed with your vet. This is unusual behavior.
You should not continue to give your dog sticks like this to eat. The wood chips can get in their stomach, stuck in their throat or even in their teeth.
I would definitely not let my dog eat their wooden toy sticks, because that is dangerous and could lead to choking or even death. Please consult your vet, or if you can 't afford a vet visit, please visit your local pet store for suggestions.
