I have a 5 month old Goldendoodle puppy. Recently, I've been taking her out to pee and walk around the yard around every 2 hours. Today, she peed while lying down and her head has been shaking from side to side. She has always been a super playful pup and loves to walk around a lot, but to say she's been acting lethargic would be an understatement.
If anyone has any input or any idea on whether maybe a trip to the vet is warranted please let me know! I've had her for 3 months and she's been the best potty-training wise and personality wise as well! It's very unlike her.

My family has had many dogs over the years and the things that always made us head to the vet was:
A complete change from energetic to lethargic.
A young pup peeing while laying down (standing up - okay but not laying down).
Shaking their heads for no reason.
Bleeding of any kind.
I think you should call and make an emergency appointment with her vet. Be sure they understand that none of these actions are in the norm for her.
Hi everyone here's an update:
After an emergency visit to the vet, we were referred to a neurologist since she did not have any abnormalities in her bloodwork or urinalysis. The vet gave us some antibiotics in case it was a brain or spinal cord infection and we were told to visit the specialist yesterday. Since the emergency trip to the vet, she did a complete 180 and is now back to her old self. Nobody (including the neurologist) can understand the recovery. Their best guess was she ate something on a walk or something in the forrest and got sick that way, but they cannot determine if that was the case since her blood work came back negative. Thank you everyone for alerting us to the seriousness of the situation!
Hurray!!!
So glad she is okay.
Everyone deserves hugs and more hugs!!!
Get your dog to the vet ASAP !!! It could be something she ate that shouldn't have -poisoning, it could be a stroke, it could be any number of things. GO NOW !!!!!!
Post back with an update. This sounds like a trip to the emergency vet is warranted.
Prayers for healing!
Great news!! We had a family dog that got very ill like that from ingesting a mushroom/toadstool from the yard. They had to pump her stomach.
This is great news , about your Fur Baby! Sometimes when they do something out of the norm, it makes us question and caution. You did the right thing, now just watch her , and be aware of your surroundings when taking those walks, so she doesn't nibble on the unknown . She gave us a scare! Good luck!
MacDoodle,
Great news about your dog. They do sometimes eat things they shouldn't, that makes them sick. Going to the vet was the BEST thing to do. I'm very glad she is ok.
This is not a very good sign.l There could be several reasons for this. The first that comes to mind is a tick has bitten the dogl. There are several types of ticks and one can inject a poison into the dog and it can paralyze the dog.
The second is the dog is having some sort of allergic reaction and is having a seizure. No matter what the issue this is an emergency situation and needs to go to the vet immediately. Anytime there is such a drastic change in ta dog this needs to be addressed by a vet immediately. Please take the puppy to the vet now and don't wait a long time. You cansave the dog's life.
