I just got my dog back from the vet he had parvo; he is 9 weeks old. The vet gave me some meds for him to take for a week. We just got him back home today and he is not eating at all. The only thing he will eat is ham and that's only a few bites. The vet gave me some food to give him. Is this normal? Or should I get a syringe and help him eat?

Sorry about your pup's health, but I'm thinking there's salt in ham and your pup needs lots of fluids. Perhaps if you boiled some boneless and skinless chicken in water until done and try feeding that to your pup. It can be pulled into strands and cut shorter; easier on pup to digest too, plus you can incorporate the broth, so pup gets more fluids. Good Luck!
It is more important that the dog drink. I dont think ham is an appropriate food at this time. Ask the vet what food he or she recommends
I dont think ham is your best choice. I would keep trying other foods. Chicken baby food often works for me.
This is completely normal for small dogs to stop eating when they get sick. It can take up to 3 weeks for a dog to completely get over Parvo. Normally after a few days the dog will start drinking or eating again. One of my dogs it only took him 2 days to snap out of it and the other dog it took 9 days before he would eat again or even drink. This all depends on the animal. I would try to offer him food but do not force him to eat it.
