Do Pomeranian Yorkie mixes usually have dry, itchy skin? Or could it be the collar she's still not used to yet?

I would start giving it a fish oil pill, one milligram of Benadryl for each pound of the dog, and wipe his feet and his fur off at the end of each day with a soft rag that is damp enough but not wet enough to make him dripping wet. Get all the way down to the skin and rub, not hard enough to hurt but enough to stimulate the skin. Is your dog food pretty good? A good way to tell is how active and bright your dog's eyes are.
Changing foods is always helpful and you can supplement his eating with chicken. And when you buy treats, don't buy the dog bones or boxed treats, buy a small bag of really good dog food with meat (not by products) as a first ingredient. Also, it helps sometimes to put a few drops of baby vitamins on its treats when you give it to the doggy. When bathing, after the bath with dog shampoo, pour some water that had oatmeal strained out of it and rub it in and rinse with warm water.

I meant to rub all over the dog's fur and feet and get it kind of clean with a wet rag, not a dripping one. This works on people, too, at the end of the day to do this or after they have been outdoors. It also makes their fur so soft. Pollen and dirt makes fur seem waxy and dirty. I like the way it fluffs them up! Blessings, Robyn (03/18/2010)

Do hope it is not a flea collar. No dog food from the grocery store. Raw diet--easy. No vaccines. That's a killer. No corn (now genetically modified), no wheat or soy. A little fresh pressed flax oil. Build immune system. Do not destroy it with pharmaceuticals or food that has been so poisoned. (03/19/2010)

Fleas? Dry borax in the carpets. See my previous posts. Get rid of the flea collar if you have one. That poison can kill. It goes straight to kidneys and liver. (03/19/2010)

Feed your dog good quality food. Make sure the dog food does not have byproducts, hormones, antibiotics, added salt, BHA/BHT, artificial flavors, fillers, wheat, flour, corn, soy or sugar. All of these are junk and will give your dog allergies and other health issues. Also, give your dog a good quality fish oil. (03/25/2010)
