It gets pretty hot here in Arizona so I made these crochet doggie shoes for my daughter's dog to wear when we take her on walks at night when it "cools" down to 100 degrees!
Total Time: 90 minutes
Yield: 4
Supplies:
- 4 ply worsted weight yarn (two colors if desired)
- crochet hook size G
- scissors
Steps:
- Make a slip stitch and slip onto crochet hook. Chain two. Insert hook into second chain. Single crochet six in that second chain. Connect to first chain with a slip stitch. Chain 1. Round 1 is now completed.
- For next round, crochet two single crochet in each hole around the circle. Slip stitch into first chain from previous round. Chain 2. Second round is completed.
- Crochet half double crochet all around the next round. DO NOT JOIN AT THE END OF ROUND. Continue the half double crochet for five more rows, which will create a spiral.
- At the end of the sixth round, slip stitch. If you want to change colors, this is where you would add the second color. Pull the loop through from the slip stitch, cut, and knot. Add second color by putting a slip stitch on hook and inserting the hook through the last hole. Chain four. For the cuff portion of the shoe, skip one hole, double crochet in next hole, chain one. Skip one hole, double crochet in next hole, chain one. Repeat all the way around until the end. This step leaves holes in the cuff reserved for threading the tie through the shoe when the shoe is completed. At the end of the previous round, go into the third chain (from the four chains you previously did in the seventh round) and slip stitch. Chain 2. Half double crochet in same stitch, half double crochet in the next hole, half double crochet in the next "stitch" (this is the top of the stitch done on the previous round). Continue this method until the end of the round and slip stitch into second chain at the end of the round. Chain two. Repeat for two more rows. Cuff complete. Cut yarn. Pull through last stitch and knot.
- For tie: Chain 50 stitches. Cut and knot. Thread through the eyelet you created on the cuff.
- Now, make three more for your "four legged" friend!

Protecting his feet. That's great. I wish everyone would be so careful of them. People should be made to walk barefoot on hot path before making the dog do it. Thumbs up!

Meant to say 'and then they wouldn't make the dog do it.'
